The asking or "I do's"

I will ask you if you are ready to go ahead and get married, hopefully you will say "I do".

The way I will ask this will be a two part question. If you don't want to be that person that jumps in after the first line, just hang tight until I put the microphone to your mouth.

The first line will be "_____ do you take ____ to be your lawful wedded husband/wife?"

The second line will be a style choice of the options listed below.

Example 1- Spin- If you’re an outgoing fun couple you might choose to do a personal spin on the “I do”

Leia and Craig

Craig, do you take Leia to be your lawful wedded wife? Do you promise to love and respect her, be honest with her and most importantly cook a meal with vegetables when Leia works late and vacuum at least once or twice a week?

Craig “I do.”

Leia, do you take Craig to be your lawful wedded husband? Do you promise to love and respect him, be honest with him and most importantly not to roll your eyes whenever he is telling you stories about hunting, cars and bikes?

Leia “I do.

Example 2- Traditional- The more traditional version would be.

Jenni and Dan

Dan do you take Jenni to be your lawful wedded wife? Do you promise love, honour, comfort and cherish her from this day forward, forsaking all others, keeping only unto her for as long as you both shall live?”

Dan “I do”

Jenni do you take Dan to be your lawful wedded husband? Do you promise to love, honour, comfort and cherish him from this day forward, forsaking all others, keeping only unto him for as long as you both shall live?”

Jenni- I do

Example 3- Modern- Most commonly used these days is a heartfelt but not as formal version.

Jess and Keira-

Jess on this day do you take Keira to be your wife, to share the good times with her and care for her, to make her laugh, to always be her best friend and most importantly do you promise to love her unconditionally with all the love you have to give?

Jesse “I do.”

Keira on this day do you take Jess to be your wife, to share the good times with her and care for her, to make her laugh, to always be her best friend and most importantly do you promise to love her unconditionally with all the love you have to give?

Keira “I do.”

When I have finished asking the question, I will step forward, hold the microphone up to you and you will hopefully say "I do".
